With the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, long term care has been pushed into the limelight. We want to showcase and recognize the incredible leaders within long term care that keep their organizations running, day-in-day-out.
Our second nominee is a leader who, like many of her peers, is currently managing an outbreak. Nominated for this recognition, Deslyn continues to step up as the leader her residents and staff need while prioritizing their health and wellbeing to the best of her abilities. Here’s how Deslyn is dealing with the COVID-19 pandemic and outbreak at IGGH:

“The COVID 19 pandemic is certainly the most challenging event in my entire career. I have a renewed sense of appreciation for my frontline workers. They are truly my daily inspiration. Their commitment to our residents and their families is beyond this world. They inspire me. We have seen so much loss but have also gained so much knowledge, courage, and strength through this experience. We have become closer as a team in all departments. I am so immensely proud of everyone for standing shoulder to shoulder during this unprecedented time.
We communicate daily with our families and our staff to ensure they are kept up to date. We are also working extremely hard to keep our environment clean as the health and safety of our residents and staff is our number priority. We hope that this era will soon be behind us.
Wishing everyone all the best. United we stand stronger together. Stay safe and vigilant everyone.” – Deslyn Willock
